Sabbath School Toolbox is a brand-new quarterly magazine that began publication as of third quarter 2011. It has replaced LEAD magazine, which ceased publication after the second quarter 2011 issue.
Sabbath School Toolbox promises “cool tools for your adult Sabbath School.” This unique resource digest is designed to inspire and equip adult Sabbath School workers with a wholistic view of Sabbath School while offering creative approaches to teaching each quarter’s content. Its editor is Elder James W. Zackrison, a pioneer in Sabbath School ministries, who was for many years director of the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department of the General Conference. It also benefits from the input of Elder J. Alfred Johnson II, the current director of the North American Division’s Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department.
The new magazine consists of 36 pages and is the same convenient size as the Adult Sabbath School Bible Study Guide.
Each issue features articles on the four purposes of Sabbath School (World Mission Emphasis, Fellowship, Community Outreach, and Study of the Word). Departments tied directly to each quarter’s lesson content are Study Guide Highlights, Hot-button Issues, and Focus on Fundamental Beliefs. Other regular departments include Sabbath School Ideas, Teacher Improvement, Teacher Enhancement, Q and A, Ellen G. White on Sabbath School, and Snapshots of SDA History.
Sabbath School Toolbox is a must-have for leaders who want to challenge and encourage their Sabbath School class members to fulfill the complete mission objectives of Sabbath School. It costs $36.95 yearly (four issues).
Note to current yearly subscribers to LEAD. The number of issues remaining in each LEAD subscription converts into the same number of Sabbath School Toolbox issues PLUS ONE. For instance, if two issues remain in your LEAD subscription, you will receive three issues of Sabbath School Toolbox before needing to renew.
